Alicia Zikan, Asia-Pacific Regional Student Leader of the Year Award Winner, University of New England

Golden Key International Honour Society, founded on 29 November 1977, is an academic honor society which recognizes and encourages scholastic achievement and excellence among college and university students from all academic disciplines.

DSC_0689The Regional Student Leader of the Year Award winner, Alicia Zikan, is not only involved in numerous committees, but also president of the UNE Golden Key chapter. It is difficult and challenging to motivate and lead chapter members, and to ensure a coherent and integrated chapter executive at the best of times, but to do so at a university where over 80% of the students are off campus and studying by distance is quite some feat. Alicia worked tirelessly in ensuring that her chapter achieved Gold Standing in 2009. The UNE chapter is also the winner of the Best Fundraising Event 2009, having raised over $3000 in conjunction with UNE for Gemma Sisia’s School of St Jude in Tanzania. Congratulations, Alicia!
